Komen Greater NYC Race for the Cure
On Sunday, September 7, 2014, well over 12.000 New Yorkers, including myself, will join with nearly 1,000 breast cancer survivors, all of us coming together to run breast cancer out of town.
Thanks to the donations and fundraising of participants like me in the 2013 Race, Komen Greater NYC awarded $2.7 million in grants this year, including $2.0 million to local breast health screening, treatment, education, outreach and support programs and $700,000 in national breast cancer research to find the cures.
In one year, our donations and fundraising helped 134,000 of our fellow New Yorkers, providing 13,871 mammograms, 10,100 clinical breast exams, support services for 19, 483 women, men and families, and breast cancer education for 60,089 people.
As a result of our efforts, 982 cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in women here in the area, which means they got the life-saving treatment they deserved! That’s huge.
Why is this important?
One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. In 2014, it is estimated that 232,340 women and nearly 2,240 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. An estimated 39,620 women and 410 men will die from the disease.
I need your support! Please give as generously as you can every dollar counts! As a token of my gratitude, each donor will receive 25% off their next purchase when they shop at my webstore; www.boutiquezion.com
